3 simple steps to SAVE FOOD & MONEY

  • Step 1: Create a shopping list with Green Egg Shopper. Start new or 'copy' an archived list. Plan the quantity by viewing previous lists. Check price at which items were previously bought.

  • Step 2: While you shop, 'tick off' items in the list OR set 'Use by' date (for perishables). Setting 'Use by' automatically ticks off the item in the list.

  • Step 3: View a list of items near expiry, anytime. Check the 'Use Me Now' list before planning meals. View reports on expenses to see how much, where, and on what you are spending.

Use By imageUsing 'Use by' effectively:

  • Check the 'Use Me Now' list anytime you want. Items about to expire appear here. Checking it before planning the meals for the day is a good idea..!
  • 'Use Me Now' reminds you of items that need to be consumed shortly and may need restocking. This should help you plan your next list in advance.
  • 'Item life' in the App helps you differentiate short, medium & long life items.
  • 'Item life' can be set under 'Settings' tab. The items get categorised under the 'Use Me Now' list based on this.
  • 'Reminder days' in the App lets you set how many days before expiry should items start appearing in 'Use Me Now' list.
  • 'Reminder days' can be set under 'Settings' tab.
  • Reset the Use by date if required, e.g. an item with an expiry date 2 months away once opened needs to be consumed within 5 days requires resetting the expiry date.
  • Set the Use by date of the items while you shop. The items get ticked as 'bought'tick automatically when you set the date. If you have set the sort option to 'bought items', the bought items will automatically move to the bottom of the list.

Lists imageLists/List items

  • Add a new list to the App. A built-in items list becomes available to select from. You can add/delete/rename items to personalise them. Deleting an item though, will remove it from archived lists and reports.
  • Create your own list of shops under the List :Edit option.
  • Linking a shop to the list automatically links the shop to all items added to the list.
  • Add price and category to items. A good way may be to use your recent receipts to key in the prices. Else you could do this while shopping.
  • Click and add photos to items so you always pick up the correct item from the shelf.
  • Add vouchers to Lists (List:Edit) or Items (Item:Itemdetails). The 'money bag' sign reminds you of the vouchers. Delete the voucher once used/expired.
  • Set higher priority for items that must be bought. If you have money off vouchers or discount coupons subject to a minimum spend, you can sort your list by priority and start picking higher priority items first and stop when the minimum spend is met.
  • Lists remember the sequence in which items are bought. So next time when you copy the list from Archive and 'sort' the new list by bought order under 'Shop', it will be orgnised in this sequence. You can now zip past the aisles in that order.
  • If you purchase from more than one store and have a different order of picking items in each store, no worries, simply add the store name to the list. The list will remember the order for that store.
  • Sorting on bought order automatically sendstick bought items to the bottom of the list.
  • When done, select MoreOptions:Shopping Done to Archive the list.

Reports imageReports

  • Ever wanted to find out how much you spent on shopping last month, or last year? The monthly reports easily pull this information for you.
  • The reports not only help you keep track of your expenses but also give you a cool insight into your spending habits.
  • The category reports can tell you how much you have spent e.g. on fruits, or vegetables.
  • If you shop from more than one shop, the report by shops will tell you how much you spent in top five shops.
  • Reports are pulled from both archived and active lists. Deleting lists will remove the data from reports.

Settings imageSettings

  • Personalise currency as needed.
  • App comes with preset Item life & Reminder days settings. Most users will not need to modify these. Leave as default or personalise Item life & Reminder days settings using the 4 rules below.
  • Rule 1: Item life span is categorised into 'Short', 'Medium', or 'Long' depending on how far the Use by date is from date of purchase. Since longer life items may be purchased in larger quantities, the app gives the option to set different reminder days for short, medium and long life items.
  • Rule 2: Short life should be set to less than medium life which in turn should be less than long life. For instance if short, medium, long life (days) are set as 5, 31, 4000 days respectively, any item whose 'Use by' is within 5 days of purchase date gets automatically marked as short life, item whose Use by is more than 5 days but within 31 days of purchase date gets marked as medium life and any item with Use by more than 31 days away from purchase date and upto 4000 days is marked as long life.
  • Rule 3: The 'Long life' item life span defaults to the maximum allowed by the app, 4000 days (about 11 years), and CANNOT BE MODIFIED. Any item with more than medium life span and upto 4000 days gets automatically categorised as long life.
  • Rule 4: Reminder days indicate the number of days left before Use by date when the item starts to appear in the 'Use Me Now' list. Personalise this for short, medium and long life items. For instance if reminder days is set to 2 for short life, the short life items start to appear 2 days before their expiry date in the 'Use Me Now' list
  • Set Max Archive items as per your needs. The maximum allowed in App is 5000 items, but you can set it lower if you do not need to store much history. This helps prevent your App data from ballooning too big. The App will automatically prompt you to delete some lists once it reaches the Max Archive limit.
  • Set Tax1 % and Tax2 % per your needs. You can then switch them on or off within the item details.
  • Check the FAQ page under 'Settings' to find answers to some common questions.
  • Select 'Send Feedback' button to send your comments to us or if you need any help with the App. We promise to try our best to help resolve your query.

Archive imageArchive

  • Avoid buying more than what you need. The archived lists record the quantity of an item bought. Simply check how much you bought last time and if wasn't all consumed before the Use by date you may be over buying.
  • Check archived lists to find out what you bought in past, and if you are price aware, how much you bought it for..! Archived lists retain the price at which an item was bought.
  • You can't modify an archived list. You can view the details or you can copy it to create a new list or you can delete an archived list.
  • You can copy a previous list and reuse it rather than create one from scratch. The copied list remembers the sequence in which the items were bought and even remembers the quantity. This way you know how much you bought last time! You can change the quantity of items in the copied list if needed.
